This book!!!? I had so much fun listening to this audio as I worked on bedazzling my concert outfit. I just looove Max Meyers’ voice and the delivery of the book is so entertaining. I need more!

Where to even start? Peter Key is having a bad day, getting kicked out of his buddy’s house for doing the uncouth with his girlfriend. He’s out of money and no place to live, until a shady lawyer shows up telling him about uncle Forrest’s death and now Peter’s windfall. A one million dollar property in Austin left in his name, all the cash and problems along with it. Immediately upon arrival, Pete is bombarded with realtors approaching him about the house. Something isn’t sitting right with Pete and the way bodies keep dropping around him is really messing with his laid back stoner vibe.

This was an awesome modern take on PI shows. Very Gen Z coded. Peter was so likable! The story kept getting more mysterious and I loved the twisty emotional ending. The journey and growth for Pete was very cool to watch. Lots of shady characters, real family and found family themes. I really liked the supporting characters, Grady the PI taking Pete under his wing, or also being his cover for hiding all the cash 😆 a love interest, strong female aunties, and a very good boy Brutus 🐕.

A true love note from the author for Austin, Texas – makes me realize I’ve never been to the Lone Star State. Kinda having FOMO?
