Daggerbound is the second book in the Swordheart series, featuring a fantastic magical world and sword bound knights. Learned Edmund is tasked with delivering an old relic to another scholar, inadvertently pulling the sword when attacked by bandits, revealing an immortal warrior locked within.

There are a few things I always look forward to in a T. Kingfisher story – the characters, atmosphere, and some creative facts about animals, critters, or nature! This book checks off pretty much all of them 😄

I loved the progression of Edmund and Dervish’s romance, it was cute and sappy for me. Dervish fell hard for nerdy Edmund, no matter how many times he claimed Edmund wasn’t his type. Kingfisher grew on the expanding world of her Clockwork series, I very much enjoy the characters and new magical creatures. This had adventure and heist vibes, funny dialogue and heartwarming romance, as well as an overall cozy fantasy theme. I liked the new additions Dog Violet and Large Francis, their comedic timing was impeccable. I’m absolutely dying for the next book (mentioned in the acknowledgments).

Audiobook narration by Jesse Vilinsky was simply perfect. I adore her character delivery for feminine and masculine voices, but especially the whimsical voices of gnole Dog Violet! It feels like a full cast production and I was highly entertained throughout the whole book.
