What stood out to me in this book is the duality of the story, there’s an interesting supernatural element and then a cool twist to bring it home. This was really great and I was super creeped out and then mesmerized by the unfolding mystery. The isolation of the characters on the island created an eerie atmosphere. I liked Marin and her investigative no-nonsense nature. Her backstory made her endearing while we suspect the other characters. The first half of this book is a really great supernatural thriller and then it jumps into the mystery. The diary chapters were very captivating and I kept taking mental notes for the current timeline. 

I had a really great time with this book, it made me giddy and excited to keep going. There were a couple moments where my eyes rolled to the ceiling towards the end. Really? ANOTHER seance? Sure, your funeral! Super cheesy one liner zingers, and the ending was kinda funny and ironic. Another summer staple, great read!

The inconsistency of the audio production got progressively more annoying?!!? The volume control was all over the board. Especially in the faster paced sequences, it was so jarring! I couldn’t adjust the volume because some parts would be louder than others, in the same sentence or paragraph. Not my favorite production at all.
