Reimagined Psycho with a ton of feminist rage? Honestly it was very enjoyable, even though it got dark and bleak and made me question my own morality!
Marion is on the run with her boss’ 100k, when she stumbles across Norman at the Billings Motel. An odd fellow, but the Psycho shower scene takes a turn and Norman is the one to end up killed. What follows are dual POVs with Marion and budding investigator Hannah, retracing the steps of a missing young woman.
It was kind of a wild ride. There’s no morally gray here, it was like a train wreck and you can’t look away. I felt sick and shocked at times how the events unfolded, even if it was predictable. I think the author did a fantastic job with the likable to unlikable factors, as well as toying with emotions. Taking a classic story and reinventing it with feminist nuances. For true crime junkies and horror film aficionados, Marion asks – would you help your family get rid of a dead body?
Narrated by Tawny Platis as Marion and Natalie Naudus as Hannah, both of their voices worked well together. The pacing and delivery was spot on and super bingeable, just like a movie would be!
