A surprisingly emotional story, by the second time it made me cry, I knew this will be a top favorite book of mine this year!
The emotion!!! Fear, grief, anger, rage.
so. much. rage.
Well deserved. I immediately connected to Lucy and her tragic murder. Left with nothing but questions of why this happened to her. Killed by a man she knew. The parallels to real life were not lost on me. I kept imagining that many women would never have the chance to get justice, let alone revenge, for their murders. Ugh, it just hit a nerve inside me.
But, this is fiction. Horror with humor, and I did both laugh and cry, almost consecutively. These characters and their interactions were so great. Lucy and Nicola found a friendship and kinship in their supernatural pairing, I adored them together. I loved this story, it was entertaining and had my complete attention. Full of funny quips, jokes and smart banter. The ending was quite satisfying after Lucy’s whole sordid tale, and multiple body modifications 😅
Thanks so much to Dreamscape Media / Recorded Books for the free audiobook. I thoroughly enjoyed the narration by Tegan Bourke, her accent and voice cadence made Lucy so real. I loved her personality and must mention the range of emotions yet again, from the smallest saddest whisper to the angriest revenge filled yell. I finished this in one day.
