Sixteen year old Calisa is sent by her mothers to the family bed-and-breakfast inn in Vermont for the summer. She couldn’t get away fast enough from Brooklyn after breaking up with her boyfriend, hoping to mend her broken heart by helping her aunt with the B&B. What she didn’t expect was an overgrown and sad inn, a grouchy unwelcoming Auntie Zee, more secrets and surprisingly magical guests.

Looking to prove her aunt wrong, with the help of Jack, Calisa will transform the inn back to its glory. When Auntie Zee doesn’t come back from a supply run, Calisa uncovers her big secret, and with the help of her new companions, works to rescue Auntie Zee from worlds unknown.

I admit, I was a bit apprehensive about this book when I started, but I ended up really liking it! It’s a great YA cozy fantasy, it was magical, whimsical, and cute. Calisa was a great protagonist, I liked her drive and she would not back down from a challenge. The characters and magical creatures (Steve!) really brought this story to life. A bit mysterious with a light romance angle and found family theme. I had a cozy time!
