I really enjoy Kate Alice Marshall’s novels and this was no different! A mystery of missing girls in a small town and a woman with drive to find them. Audrey Dixon is a school counselor and SAR volunteer, living in the shadow of her once best friend’s disappearance, when another young girl is presumed to be a runaway. Hoping to bring her home, Audrey uncovers secrets kept deep below.

The book jumps between POVs, Audrey and an unknown girl kept captive, this created intriguing tension and kept me interested in the plot. I like the twists and hints of urban legend that the author weaves into the story. It had a true crime investigative theme that always works for me and I binged the audiobook in one day.

Karissa Vacker always delivers the best atmosphere for mystery thrillers. I also very much liked the chapters performed by Ina Barrón. Both of their voices delivered captivating ranges of emotion.
