Meet me beneath the Yew tree.
Always.
I loved this story, it was emotional, intricate and epic. I’m a huge fan of time travel or time loop stories and unraveling the mystery is my favorite aspect. This hit the spot, however it took about half of the book for it to make sense. I did not mind, but I fear many may not be as patient. I can’t really explain the plot without spoiling, but throughout the story it felt like the movie Edge of Tomorrow. The time loop and love story was very similar, so if you’ve seen the movie, it may make more sense while reading!
The prose and narration ended up working really well, keeping in mind this is written in a retelling type way, like a fairytale story with a pretty good villain. I lived for the chapters when Una and Owen came together, it’s such a unique way of showing their love grow throughout centuries back and forth. I really enjoyed the scholarly academic vibe with Owen in the modern world, it was a nice touch when getting to the ending.
Audiobook narration by Moira Quirk and Sid Sagar was fantastic. Majority performed by Sid narrating and retelling their story as Owen, his voice was very soothing. Moira jumped in as Una and telling the side of the story from her POV, it was emotional and broke up the tension and added a new level to the plot. Highly recommend this on audio as previously mentioned the story takes time to get into. Totally worth it.
