I loved the atmosphere of this novel. It had a dark and eerie mood, the folklore style of storytelling had me interested in Greer and the small strange town of Mistaken. I enjoyed the writing, it was very descriptive and imaginative and I liked my time picturing various scenes.
The pacing was a bit drawn out. I savored the first half of this book for its mystery and strangeness, but the plot faltered in the last quarter. Marketed as adult, the novel is darker and gritty, the character is aged up to 27, but the book still skews more YA.
This is a unique fantasy and I will definitely read more from this author in the future.
