I’m not sure where to start my review, this book was everything I had hoped for. Rebecca’s writing has grown exponentially and this is why her books appeal to many readers.
Wild Reverence has the enchanting storytelling of Elements of Cadence and the magical world building of Divine Rivals. I loved the atmosphere immediately, the building blocks of the gods we learned about in the original series were minuscule compared to this addition. The exploration of Underling and Skyward clans were some of my favorite lore building. Matilda was so likable, soft yet strong, like Joan of Arc, her character story was very captivating. Vincent was literal yearning perfection. I’m blown away by Rebecca’s ability to weave these soul wrenching love stories, it has all the emotion and struggle of star crossed lovers.
This can definitely be read as a standalone as it explains the god side of this world. The characters we’ve known only by name have been filled in and had shining moments on their own. BADE. This man has me by the heart. I absolutely loved his character arc and would seriously petition the author and publisher to explore his and Adria’s story, even in a novella. Pretty pretty please with cherries on top.
However, if you have read Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows, all the little Easter eggs are so worth it! The epilogue was a fun fact that tied the whole series together.
Audiobook narrated by Hannah van der Westhuysen with George Weightman and Rebecca Norfolk was amazing. Hannah has a wonderful cadence and her delivery made Matilda shine. All the narrators brought this story to life.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press/Saturday Books and Macmillan Audio for the review copies.
