The Bewitching has me bewitched! All the stars! I loved the dark academia and Massachusetts setting. A captivating mix of horror and historical fiction inspired by Mexican folklore. This is the witchy book to start off the season.

Switching POVs between Alba in 1908 and her great-granddaughter Minerva in 1998. Minerva’s chapters set in the late 90s were a whole mood, so nostalgic, the perfect dark academia setting. It had me reminiscing about The Witches (1990) and The Craft. I enjoyed following Minerva as she begins to experience the effects of witchcraft, the eerie similarities between the characters were very intriguing and tense.

I loved everything about the writing, it was historically captivating and beautiful. I think this is my second book by the author and I’ll be going back to read more.
