After losing her job, Nina Hunnicutt temporarily moves back home to Catoctin, Maryland. Living with her parents until she figures out her next steps isn’t ideal, neither is running into her childhood friend and neighbor, Quentin Bell. After a fun filled summer looking for treasure, Nina and Quentin had a falling out, neither able to reconcile as his living situation changes and they drift apart in heart and distance. A couple decades should have been enough to forget, but they are drawn to each other even more. Will the infamous Fountain treasure help them fall truly in love?
This book has everything I look for in a second chance romance. It was lighthearted but very realistic, had a touch of whimsy and mystery. A hidden treasure with many fun layers to uncover alongside our characters. I really loved the idea using a historical aspect based in real life – the Federal Writers’ Project. Such a cool and interesting topic, I loved Sarah’s twist and how she worked it into this romance!
Quentin was down bad for Nina and I liked the almost friends to lovers trope as well. The nostalgic history they shared as teenagers makes me all warm and cozy. Nina’s parents were a great sounding board and added quirky gags throughout the book as well. The mysterious characters introduced through the interviews had me guessing at where the story was going and I really liked the outcome.
Audiobook narration by Mara Wilson is superb, I love the atmosphere she added to the book and how relatable Nina sounded with her voice acting. Particularly loved the interactions with Quentin as ‘zee Moon’ 💕
