For some reason when I started this book I was apprehensive and on the fence about the musical setup. I shouldn’t have been! Ashley Poston hasn’t let me down yet. The way she creates love stories with emotional depth and magical realism is an art.

I fell for Joni and Sasha when they start to hear each other! It’s a unique and heartfelt story where Joni is at a crossroads. Returning home from LA because of her mother’s dementia diagnosis and reconnecting with her inner songwriter. Coming to terms and acceptance are huge themes throughout the book. I loved the connection Joni and Sasha have, how they understand each other’s struggles and work through them together.

The book is sprinkled with lighthearted moments and some past book cameos. I listened along with the audiobook narrated by Patti Murin, she gave great energy to the performance and made Joni very likable. I really enjoyed the song chapter titles and maybe shed a couple tears, great time overall!
