Where Sleeping Girls Lie was a great mystery with academia setting. Following Sade, a new student enrolled in the prestigious Alfred Nobel Academy. The plot picks up almost immediately when Sade’s roommate Elizabeth goes missing, and the circumstances do not make sense to her or Basil, Elizabeth’s closest friend. Sade takes it upon herself to figure out why someone would want Elizabeth gone.
I loved the atmosphere of this book and all the characters. Sade, along with Baz, Persephone, and other shady characters were super fun to follow. The audiobook performance by Natalie Simpson was very engaging and I enjoyed her delivery for Sade, the accent she added for Elizabeth and the cool girl drawl for Persephone. It was fantastic to listen and I couldn’t put it down. The mystery kept me intrigued throughout with the addition of diary anagrams, which layered a creepy vibe to the book. There were many secrets and reveals that kept the story flowing, while a tad long, I was never bored. It was well written and I appreciate that this is YA that’s still very accessible to someone in their thirties. Highly recommend for the mystery!
