Let me join the minority here, I really didn’t want to give it a low rating, but it just did not resonate with me.

I liked parts of it but it was very wordy and lengthy from the most minute descriptions. I was bored most of the time, but based on all the praise, I kept reading, hoping the outcome would be worth it. While the final few chapters were good, It. Was. Very. Long.

The pacing did not work. While Part 1 and the opening chapters really sucked me in, the rest of the book was uneventful or not enough to get me on board. Part 2 was very boring and could have been edited to 1/4 length. Then in Part 3 we finally get more background history on Vis, which was very oddly placed. Normally these background elements are introduced first to make the character endearing to the reader and I think that might have helped. It was too strategic and analytical, many people may enjoy that, and clearly did, more than I.
