An easy romcom read with a friends-to enemies-to lovers trope. Molly and Jude’s families were close neighbors and they grew up together being the youngest kids, always playing together until one day something changed and Jude became a trickster to Molly. Constantly playing pranks on each other, eventually having a minor truce after reaching adulthood.
Highlights
- Jewish representation
- Friends to enemies
- Cute dogs
- Taylor Swift references
- The Beatles references
I like that Molly was a non practicing lawyer but working at a recruitment agency and helping people find jobs, her reasoning to place them in a good position was heartwarming. Additionally, Molly’s best friend Esther was an interesting character and I liked their friendship.
Overall it was a so-so read. I thought the plot was a little unrealistic, the pranks and banter between the pair, considering they are 27, quite juvenile. I enjoyed the parts with cute dog Yogi and the inclusion of Jewish culture. I wasn’t completely sold on them being lovers and the story dragged for me and could have been shorter length. Lots of ping-ponging emotions between friends and rivals, there were almost too many different plot points but none of them really sparked my attention.
